Thanks for the comment. To answer your question, in this case "you and I" is correct and is ALWAYS correct in this usage. The reason is that "you and I" is the subject of the sentence and you should always use the subjective form "I".

Thank you for this post. As an Asian who grew up in America, I made English grammar a priority in my education, but I believe my English teachers may have got some of it wrong as well, including this incorrect "between you and I" phrase. Now, I'm trying to learn the right format for these often used phrases. I still have trouble remembering the technical explanations, but I'll study it until it sinks in.

I can't yet explain why but I believe:

"You and I are just as incorrigible" is correct form whereas "You and me are just as incorrigible" is incorrect.

Am I right, and what is the technical explanation for this? Sometimes either one can be correct, right?

hey, Holroyd.this is Rick from american wax.damn fine article.couldn't have said it better myself.i was also thinking about our last conversation, and a thought occured to me.as we know, revelations tells us that the ''mark'' will be the # of a man.it will also be 666.now everyone would be on the lookout for such an obvious symbol,however.......what about an identification # with 3 series of 6 digits each [i.e. 123456-789012-345678]!this would be virtually unnoticed! especially if done through a chip where noone even realizes the # of digits involved!IT WOULD ALSO PROVIDE AN ALMOST UNLIMITED SUPPLY OF #'S FOR EVERY MAN ON EARTH!....just a thought.i don't have e-mail, so if you want to get in touch just use snail mail.325 Payne Pond rd Westville,S.C. 29175...otherwise i'll talk to you next trip.keep up the good work and wish your family well for me.c-ya...Rick! p.s. dont try the e-mail adress given it aint mine.
